All Stakeholders Involved In MiLAT Policy

Education Minister Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly is reiterating that it is not compulsory for expelled students over 16 years to enter the Military-Led Academic Training Programme (MiLAT), but says the Ministry will continue to recommend their registration.

At a Media Conference on Thursday, the Minister announced a policy making it compulsory for students who have been expelled to be enrolled in MiLAT.

Speaking in the Upper House on Friday, she noted that by law, students under 16 years should be enrolled in the school system.

The Minister said while it is not mandatory for expelled students over 16 years to enter MiLAT, the Education Ministry will have discussions with all stakeholders to ensure the educational continuity of the student to have a productive life.
