This country’s quest for glory at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games began today.

Dylan Carter qualified for the Semis of the Men’s 50 Metre Butterfly, finishing second in 23.59 in Heat 7 at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre.

Carter started in Lane 4 and finished just behind Australia’s Kyle Chalmers who touched the wall first in 23.45 seconds. Lewis Frazer was third in 23.73.

Also in the pool, Graham Irvin Chatoor finished fourth in Heat 1 of Men’s 400 metres, qualifying in 4 minutes 5.50 seconds. He was not among the eight qualifiers for the Final.

And TTO’s women netballers will look to improve after losing the opening match of their campaign against England 74-22. Afeisha Noel led T&T’s goal scoring effort, hitting 12 of 15 attempts. Joelisa Cooper scored 10 of her 12 shots.

Eleanor Caldwell was deadly for the Brits, scoring 30 of her 30 attempts in her 30 minutes on court.
