38 Venezuelan Nationals Repatriated

Thirty eight Venezuelan Nationals who illegally entered Trinidad and Tobago over a period of time, were returned to their homeland on February 11.

A statement from the Ministry of National Security which was issued on Saturday said the exercise was in keeping with established protocols between Trinidad and Tobago and its Venezuelan counterparts.

The release added, all persons involved in the repatriation were screened by competent authorities of Trinidad and Tobago as well as by representatives of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. This was to ensure there were no victims of human trafficking amongst them.

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard was the main operational unit involved in the exercise and ensured its efforts were consistent with the government’s policy and laws of this country.
