Back To Parliament – Urgent Changes Needed For Procurement Legislation

Parliament will convene next week to make urgent changes to the Procurement Act.

This, from Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley who said the amendments will come at the next sitting of the Lower House on Wednesday. His comments came at a PNM meeting at Hillview College, Tunapuna, on Thursday night.

The Prime Minister said the present law does not allow the conduct of business in a timely manner, with time specified to facilitate tenders, responses, and the input of an advisory committee on procurement.

Dr. Rowley said that if this is not changed, T&T will grind to a halt. He stressed that arrangements needed to be put in place for the smooth conduct of business.
