Boost To Tourism And Entertainment Sectors

Tourism Minister Randall Mitchell says the reduced restrictions are timely since it comes when both the tourism and culture sectors are on a path of recovery especially following the ‘Taste of Carnival’ events.

He believes the staging of that event was ‘instructive’, as it signalled the reopening of the events industry, which brought hope and relief to persons involved in the sector. The Minister adds that it is also encouraging that 25 days after the event, no significant spike in COVID-19 cases were noted.

Mr Mitchell says the events industry generate significant revenue for stakeholders involved and believes the lifting of restrictions will benefit many as the events industry returns to normal.

He notes that the Ministry was engaged in collaborative approaches and consultations since October 2021 for the safe reopening of the sector but is urging all to exercise personal responsibility while attending events.
