Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally.
This statistic was quoted by President of the Caribbean Association of Oncology and Hematology (CAOH), Dr. Marisa Nimrod, as she spoke with the media on Monday. CAOH has launched a project which aims to raise money to improve cancer awareness in Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr. Nimrod said mental health is really important for persons diagnosed with cancer. She emphasized that this is one area that needs to be addressed locally, adding that her organisation aims to fill that gap.
CAOH will host a Cancer Walk, Kids Zone, Concert and Telethon themed “Cancer is Everyone’s Business” on October 14th 2023. The day’s festivities will run from 1pm to midnight at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain.
