CARICOM Makes Strong Statement On Middle East

CARICOM Heads have made a “strong statement” regarding the Israel/Palestine War.

Speaking at a Press Conference held soon after his arrival from the CARICOM Heads of Government Conference in Guyana, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley said several CARICOM States, including Trinidad and Tobago, reserved on giving a position on war in the Middle East outside of the United Nations. However, speaking as a Caribbean Community, Dr. Rowley noted there is a call for ceasefire.

Prime Minister Rowley also revealed that the instability in Haiti has gotten worse. Discussions surrounding the way forward was a part of the agenda and a matter of continued concern for CARICOM Heads. Dr. Rowley said high level delegations from the United States, Canada and the European Union, who also have interests in the state of the country, were told that they must be take some responsibility in the restoration of the troubled nation.
