CARICOM Must Forge Ahead

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has highlighted the importance of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) remaining relevant, even 50 years after it came into being.

Speaking during the Opening Ceremony of the 45th Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government, Dr. Rowley noted that the region is now stronger than ever having stood as one during the pandemic.

He said the Caribbean Community must continue to build and forge ahead for the region, noting that CARICOM can only do so as a unified entity.

Dr. Rowley also hailed the founding fathers of CARICOM for the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas on July 4th 1973.

He said such an agreement has ensured that the region is strong and unified, and may have remained small on the world stage, but not insignificant.
