In keeping with international standards, the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services recently updated the layout and design of all its Social Welfare cheques.
These updated cheques are embedded with special security features that will help reduce the instance of fraud. The Social Welfare Cheques include the core areas like Senior Citizens’ Pension, Public Assistance Grant and Disability Assistance Grants, Disability Assistance for Children, Food Support and other Social Support Grants. This is in keeping with the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen the administration of its Grants, in order to mitigate fraudulent activities.
All Merchants, Grocers and Commercial Banks are kindly asked to accept the cheques with the old format with dates on or before October 30th, 2021.
