Cheaper To Produce Driver’s Licence

Transport Commissioner Clive Clarke is defending the rollout of the new Driver’s Licence, noting that the cost to produce one is even cheaper than the equipment used for the Driver’s Permits.

Speaking on the NOW Morning Show, Mr. Clarke notes that the new Driver’s Licence has added security features, adding that the new license can now be used regionally and internationally as identification and in some cases to use one’s credit card.

He believes the benefits of the new licence outweigh the cost.

Mr. Clarke adds that the new system cost just over $1 million.
