The Chinese Embassy in collaboration with the Port of Spain City Corporation on Tuesday awarded five local students with scholarships to aid in their educational advancement.
The local students are Kayleen Sandy, Daniel Mendoza, Alexis Snaggs, Khadija Jammeh, and Jade Alexander.
Delivering remarks to the gathering at the Port of Spain Corporation was Port of Spain Mayor Joel Martinez, who reminded the recipients of the benefits of the opportunities afforded to them.
Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago Fang Qiu was also on hand to extend congratulations to the scholarship winners. He said China remains committed to assisting in the educational advancement of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
Education Minister Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly also shared what it meant to receive such an award.
