With the Opening Ceremony out of the way, the competitive action in the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games got going today in Trinidad and Tobago.
Australia’s Lauren Bates won the Games’ first Gold Medal when she captured Road Cycling’s Individual Time Trial at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. Her winning time was 14.9.31 seconds. Her teammate Keira Will was the runner-up, and Ruby Oakes from the Isle of Man third.
Team TTO’s Ashleigh Thomas came in 15th position.
On the men’s side, South Africa’s Miles Liebenberg won the second Gold of Trinbago 2023 by completing the Time Trial in 19.17.62 seconds. Scotland’s Elliot Rowe won the Silver, and Australia’s Will Heath the Bronze.
Team Trinidad and Tobago rider Jadian Neaves was 16th overall.
