Commonwealth Youth Games Round-Up – Day 5

TTO cyclists Makaira Wallace and Syndel Samaroo took Trinidad and Tobago’s medal count to 14, taking Silver and Bronze on the final day of competition.

Wallace made good on her early promise to win Silver in the Women’s Keirin and Bronze in the 500 Metre Time Trial.

The 17 year old three-time National Champion crossed the line in 36.791 seconds to capture T&T’s third medal at the National Cycling Velodrome. She then went on to take Silver in the Women’s Keirin to the cheers of the home crowd.

Team TTO’s Syndel Samaroo grabbed his second Silver in the Men’s Keirin, adding it to his Sprint Silver won on Wednesday.

Australia continued its dominance of the Games on the track with an 8th Cycling Gold to take their haul to 15.
