A 21 year old man who was charged with the murder of Corporal Marlone Mitchell was today remanded into custody.
Anthony Hopkins, of Quarry Road, Valencia, appeared virtually today before Master Subrina Shah of the High Court in Couva, charged with the murder of 43 year old Corporal Mitchell. He was remanded until his next court appearance which is to be determined.
Corporal Mitchell was killed between the hours of 1am and 2am on Friday 9th February while he was with friends at a bar in the Couva area. He was in his private capacity at the time.
Hopkins was arrested on February 9th after he and his attorney walked into the Freeport Police Station. He was subsequently taken for medical attention. He was charged on February 15th.
Police also reportedly seized the fallen officer’s firearm.
