Emancipation Day saw one village in North Trinidad holding its own celebrations to highlight its achievements.
Instead of heading into Port of Spain for the procession, members of the Gonzales community hosted their own festivities.
Organiser of the event, Lyndon Callender, adds the youth in the community can also learn to bind books and play musical instruments such as the saxophone.
The community organiser notes all the courses are being offered free of charge and everyone who is interested is encouraged to attend.
