Cuba Vaccinates Children Ages 2-11

Cuba made history on Monday by becoming the first country in the world to vaccinate children from the age of two years old against COVID-19.

They have been using Abdala and Soberana, home-grown vaccines which are not yet recognised by the World Health Organization.

TTT News spoke with the Cuban Ambassador, Tania Diego Olite, who confirmed that COVID-19 shots are being administered to the little ones.

The communist island of 11.2 million people aims to inoculate all its children before physically reopening schools that have been closed for the most part since March 2020.

The new school year started on Monday, but from at home via television programmes, as most Cuban homes do not have internet access.

The Cuban Ambassador says so far there have been no severe adverse reactions for the children.

Ambassador Diego Olite says Cuba has so far vaccinated 70% of their population and intends to open its borders on November 15th, when an even larger percent is expected to be fully inoculated.
