Eight TT Students Among Top Awardees For CAPE, CSEC Success

Eight students from Trinidad and Tobago received awards for their achievements in the June/July 2021 Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations.

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) awarded the top performers across the region at a virtual ceremony held on Thursday. Education Minister Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly said the students wrote the exams during difficult times and, as such, their performance must not go unnoticed. chief Executive Officer and Registrar of CXC Dr. Wayne Wesley, also congratulated the students. He said they demonstrated the resilience, tenacity and willpower to succeed against all odds. Virgin Island Premier Andrew Fahie encouraged the students to use their education to advance the region.

The top eight students to be awarded from Trinidad and Tobago are: Ayanna Felix and Tashana Riley, both from Bishop Anstey High School East, Danielle Suite from St. Augustine Girls High School, Joshua Brailey from ASJA Boys Charlieville, Nikeesha Nancoo from Lakshmi Girls Hindu College, Zoe Gonzalves from St. Joseph’s Convent, Port of Spain, Joel Phillips from Hillview College, and Jesse Rampersad from Naparaima Girls’ High School.

The Education Minister presented tokens of appreciation to the students at a function held at the National Academy for the Performing Arts.
