Electricity Bill Calculations For T&TEC Customers

The potential increase in electricity bills saw the Regulated Industries Commission (RIC) launch a Bill Calculator on its website on Tuesday.

Last week, the Commission said all customers of the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) will have increases to their electricity bills starting in 2024.

This will vary for different customers, with residential clients to pay 15 to 64 per cent more, commercial customers 37 to 51 per cent higher rates, and industrial clients facing a 58 to 72 per cent increase.

For E-class industrial customers, where many plants in the petrochemical sector fall, the range is the maximum rate set at 119 per cent to 126 per cent.

The calculator was posted online yesterday to make it easier for customers to understand what their new potential bill will look like once the rates apply.
