A fire that began at the Beetham landfill last evening has been extinguished.
The Trinidad and Tobago Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL) says its Emergency Management Team (EMT) will continue to conduct work on the site to prevent a re-ignition.
According to SWMCOL, at approximately 8:45pm on Tuesday, SWMCOL’s EMT was alerted about the fire at the South-Western end of the landfill.
SWMCOL apologised for the inconvenience experienced by the public near the Beetham Landfill during the last fourteen hours.
And thanked the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services (TTFS) and SWMCOL’s Emergency Management team (EMT) for their efforts in containing the fire.
