With the appointment of a new Police Service Commission, Professor of Criminology and Former Chair of that body, Ramesh Deosaran, says that there are two ways forward with respect to appointing the Commissioner of Police.
He warns however if the body decides to start afresh this will take some time and delay the appointment of the Top Cop.
He also points to an issue that arises with the first list, questioning whether it is valid.
Professor Deosaran is suggesting that the new Commission get expert advice on the matter so any legal challenges can be met with surety.
