Former PSC Member Highlights Breaches In Gary Griffith Matter

Debate continues on the implications for changes in law governing the post of Police Commissioner.

Attorney and former Member of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Martin George, believes the change to the legislation which allowed current Acting Commissioner of Police McDonald Jacob to take the role of Acting Commissioner was illegal.

Mr. George said the change was made in June.

Mr. George also pointed to an inconsistency in the matter where Roger Kawalsingh, a member of the PSC, reportedly shared an email with former Police Commissioner Gary Griffith about the PSC Chairman’s objection to suspend Mr. Griffith on September 17th.

Two members of the Commission have since resigned following Mr. Griffith’s mandatory leave issued by the PSC.
