Government Disburses $3.6 Million To Hotels For Commonwealth Youth Games

Government has disbursed $3.6 million to hotels to assist with preparing to host athletes and visitors for the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games.

The games will take place from August 4th to 11th with seven sports split between Trinidad and Tobago and over 1,000 athletes expected to take part.

Minister of Sport and Community Development Shamfa Cudjoe in a statement on Monday said, “The hosting of these games will further position Trinidad and Tobago as a hub for sports tourism, providing a platform for Caribbean athletes to showcase their skills and will bring economic benefit to this country”.

She noted the disbursement will go towards down payment to secure 5,000 hotel room nights across six hotels in Trinidad and Tobago.

These include the Hyatt Regency Trinidad, Radisson, Cara Hotels, Magdalena Grand Beach and Golf Resort, Mt. Irvine Bay Resort, and Comfort Inn and Suites.
