The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) will soon embark on long overdue repair programmes in several of its communities.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Camille Robinson-Regis, made the announcement during the HDC’s final “”A Home For Christmas” Key Giving Ceremony for 2022.
Minister Robinson-Regis admitted the repair programme is long overdue but notes the HDC was waiting on funds. She said the HDC will make maximum use of small and medium contractors for the repair programme to ensure that the money circulates in the community.
In the 2023 Budget, the Minister of Finance outlined that the Government intended to arrange a Government Guarantee of $1.5 billion for the HDC.
Minister Robinson-Regis said the guaranteed loan will fund the completion of stalled projects, pay debts to outstanding contractors and fund its green field and brown field projects.
