JTUM Motorcade in Grande

President of the Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM), Ancel Roget, said JTUM has some big plans on the horizon, but he was unable to share the details.

On Labour Day this year, JTUM and its members announced a Motion of No-Confidence in Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley and his Cabinet.

On Sunday, JTUM, continued its mobilisation campaign with a motorcade, which saw members of several trade unions braving the inclement weather in support of their rights as employees. Speaking with reporters at the start of the motorcade in Sangre Grande, Mr. Roget said the motorcade is meant to sensitise the public about several issues including the current wage negotiations and the retrenchment of workers.

President of the Public Services Association, Leroy Baptiste, said the gap between those who have and those who are without is widening. He blamed the current macro-economic policies currently in place as the reason for the disparity.

The motorcade made its way through Valencia, then to the Eastern Main Road and ended at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain.

It followed last week’s motorcade which began at Palmiste in San Fernando and ended at the same venue in Port of Spain.
