At present, women Parliamentarians make up 41.9% of the Senate and 28.5% in the House of Representatives.
These figures exceed the 26.2% global average of women in other parliaments. Still, the consensus on Thursday evening was there is a need for a women parliamentary group to address women’s issues and ensure they get the right representation.
