Mamoral Villagers Make Citizen’s Arrest

Four men were arrested, and a quantity of copper cable wire was seized after officers responded to a report of larceny of cables on Saturday.

According to a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service around 2:30 am on August 6th, officers attached to the Central Division responded to a report at Mamoral Number 2.

On arrival the officers met with two Estate Constables of the TSTT Task Force who had four male suspects in their custody along with a length of copper cable.

The Estate Constables explained that they received information and proceeded to the area where they observed a damaged vehicle in the centre of the roadway and villagers surrounding them.

The villagers reported that the four men were caught stealing cables and they performed a ‘citizen’s arrest’ and handed over the length of cable found in their possession.

The suspects were then taken to the Gran Couva Police Station for further enquiries and then transferred to the San Fernando Medical hospital to be treated for injuries.
