A man was accidentally shot in his ankle by police in St. Ann’s on Thursday. A statement from the TTPS said an officer was conducting a search when his gun accidentally discharged.
The injured man was rushed to hospital for treatment. In the statement, Acting Senior Superintendent Harripersad Ramnarine said Acting Superintendent Nanan has been appointed to conduct an investigation into the matter.
He assured police officers will continue their duty of care with regular welfare checks and visits throughout the victim’s recovery period.
