A suspect has been detained in connection with the beheading of a four year old girl at her home at Five Rivers, Arouca.
Reports are that around 10pm on Monday night, a young lady ran into the Arouca Police Station panicked, saying that she had been beaten by her common-law husband. She explained that he was also holding her small child, identified as Amarah Lalitte, in the house.
Police immediately went to the residence where they found a gruesome scene, that of the child’s lifeless body. The 39 year old man had allegedly beheaded the child.
He was arrested by police and taken to the station.
Two knives were recovered from the scene.
