Ministry Of Public Utilities And NGC Sign MOU To Improve Water Systems

President of the National Gas Company (NGC), Mark Loquan, hopes a collaboration with the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) would result in improved asset integrity for the Authority.

Speaking at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the NGC and the Ministry of Public Utilities on Wednesday, Mr. Loquan shared some of the decisions taken following a meeting with the Ministry.

Chairman of WASA, Ravindra Nanga, said NGC was brought on board to target some of the challenges at the Authority including the integrity of its pipelines and main transition lines.

Mr. Nanga revealed that NGC assisted with the installation of a 48-inch diameter transmission pipeline at the WASA’s Caroni Water Treatment Plant after the existing line imploded. He confirmed an investigation will be done to determine what caused the rupture.
