Dylan Carter made it a hat-trick of gold at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games with a new games record in the Men’s 50 Metre freestyle.
On the last day of swimming in El Salvador, Carter was convincingly victorious in 21.87 seconds obliterating the previous mark of 22.18 set in Barranquilla 2018.
He led a Caribbean top three with Aruba’s Michael Screuders and Lamar Taylor of the Bahamas second and third in 22.43 and 22.51. TTO’s Nikoli Blackman was sixth in 22.83 seconds.
TTO’s Cherrelle Thompson joined the medal party with bronze in the Women’s 50 metre freestyle.
Thompson claimed her podium spot with a 25.92 third place finish. Mexico’s Tayde Revilak won gold in 25.44 seconds, Bermuda’s Madelyn Moore was second in 25.79.
T&T now has nine medals at the games.
