The Augustus Long Hospital in Pointe-a-Pierre is expected to be opened for services in 2024.
The Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, revealed that the hospital, which will fall under the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA), will offer state of the art oncology services. This will replace the current services under the San Fernando General Hospital.
The plans for the hospital will also include, for the first time, a Palliative Care Unit.
The Minister estimated that the public can benefit from these new developments in June or July 2024.
