NGC’s Asset Integrity Management

Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Stuart Young, says there is a problem with proper maintenance in this country, adding that the issue needs to be addressed.

Speaking at the National Gas Company (NGC’s) Asset Integrity Management (AIM) event on Tuesday, Minister Young said asset management is important to every organisation in Trinidad and Tobago, and the world. He added that AIM is something that touches every aspect of our lives.

Following an audit of the operations in 2015, the NGC decided to improve standards of performance and best practices.

Outgoing Vice President of Operations at NGC, Ramesh Harrylal, said the new system had to align with evolving standards and best practices, considering their assets are ageing and under new operating conditions. As such, an AIM framework was developed that aligned with ISO 55,000 standards, and tailored to suit the needs of the company.

President and Country Manager of DNV Trinidad and Tobago Limited, Graeme Pirie, said the company conducted a qualitative and quantitative risk assessment of NGC’s onshore and offshore assets.

He confirmed software was developed and has been fully implemented.
