Plans In Place To Address School Threat

The Ministry of Education is working closely with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service to ensure the security and safety of students and staff from all schools.

The statement follows questions stemming from the recently reported threat received on the official school email of the Barrackpore East Secondary School and two teachers. Opposition Senator Wade Mark sought further information on the plans of the Ministry in dealing with this threat.

Senator Mark expressed concern about the security of students and staff at the school and followed up with a question on specific plans by the Ministry in investigating the threat. Senator Browne reiterated that investigations of this nature are the responsibility of the TTPS.

Emails containing threats to shoot and kill students and educators at the Barrackpore East Secondary School were confirmed by the TTPS. The email threats said the acts were to be carried out on April 15th or 16th.
