PM: Government’s Fiscal Behaviour Exemplary

Stay the course. That’s the message from Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley speaking during Government’s Spotlight on the Economy on Friday.

He reiterated that Government has had to take difficult fiscal measures since the beginning of the pandemic, especially due to decreased revenues and increased expenditure.

Dr. Rowley said prior to the pandemic, there were indications that the gap between expenditure and revenue was being closed, but increased demands led to increased expenditure in the health sector along with closing several sectors.

He noted that despite this Government continues to make the best decisions for the population as a whole.

Dr. Rowley noted many had predicted a collapse of the economy, but said this was not to be.

The Prime Minister also congratulated the private sector for once again taking the lead to stimulate the economy, and added that while there are still difficult decisions to be taken, there is some good news the Ministry of Finance will talk about in the upcoming Budget.
