PM Rowley Extends Sympathy To Venezuelan VP Following Incident At Sea Involving Illegal Migrants

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has extended his condolences to the family and wider Venezuelan community over the loss of life of a young child involved in an incident at sea.

This weekend, the Coast Guard was forced to stop a boat containing Venezuelan nationals which tried to ram them. The Prime Minister spoke with the Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez on the matter. Ms. Rodriguez in turn promised to fast track the presentation of credentials for Ambassador Major General (Ret’d) Edmund Dillon in order to facilitate an early meeting between senior TT Coast Guard officers and senior officers of the Guardia Nacionale.

The meeting is meant to bring about better and more effective collaboration against the illicit trades of trafficking in people, guns and drugs, which are detrimental to both our nations.
