A recount of the Arima Northeast Electoral District has resulted in an overturn of the outcome.
On Thursday afternoon, the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) issued a statement saying that Kim Magdalene Garcia, the People’s National Movement’s candidate, received two (2) additional votes, giving her one (1) vote more than the UNC Candidate Jairzinho Domingo Gustav Rigsby.
According to the EBC, the votes now stand at PNM: 625, PEP: 81, and UNC: 624.
This check of the recount, which was conducted during the period August 16th-17th, was at the request of the PNM.
It came after the EBC declared UNC the winner of that district following the initial recount conducted.
