The Public Services Association (PSA) is calling on the Government to rethink its strategy to deal with the theft of metals by placing a ban on the export of scrap iron.
PSA President Leroy Baptiste says they have a major concern with the basis for Government’s decision.
Mr. Baptiste notes the Scrap Iron Dealers Association pleaded with Government to engage them in the way forward for the industry, but those cries fell on deaf ears. He says thousands of people employed in the industry will now find it hard to make ends meet.
