Removal Of Collapsed Pipeline Underway

Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales is assuring that works to remove the collapsed WASA pipeline in the Godineau River will be completed by the end of June.

The pipeline and rack collapsed into the river in October last year, near the Shore of Peace Cremation site in Mosquito Creek.

Earlier this month, fishermen in the area called for the removal of the pipeline, noting that it posed a hazard. WASA subsequently issued a statement stating that the procurement process was “well advanced” and expected to begin by mid-June.

But speaking in the Lower House on Wednesday, Minister Gonzales said a contract has been awarded, and works are already ongoing.
