Mayor of San Fernando, Junia Regrello, says one of the major challenges affecting Carnival celebrations in the City is making the festival saleable.
The Carnival Committee of the San Fernando Corporation hosted a Carnival 2023 Post Mortem Meeting on Wednesday to discuss challenges and ways to improve the product moving forward.
The Mayor said many companies were willing to advertise, but did not want to pay.
Another issue plaguing the Corporation is funding. Although it receives funding from the National Carnival Commission, it is not always dispersed in a timely manner. As he responded to the concerns of one of the South-based band leaders, the Mayor said he was hopeful that Local Government reform will put an end to this.
