Supermarket Association On Possible Increase In Flour Prices

President of the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago, Rajiv Diptee, says he would not be surprised of any possible price increase in grocery items, including the cost of flour.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Trade and Industry noted that there could be an increase in the price of flour in the next few months, given that local flour production houses are due to receive shipments of wheat at increased prices.

The Ministry said it will be up to these businesses to indicate whether price increases in flour may be necessary.

Mr. Diptee says he has had discussions with both local producers of flour and they have expressed concern about the increasing cost of raw materials.
