Tobago Pannist To Be Honoured At 2024 Young, Gifted & Black (YGB) Annual Awards

Tobago’s Nevin Roach will be honored for his innovation in showcasing the steelpan to the world.

Mr. Roach conceptualised the first online steelpan competition Panograma during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the first event, Panograma has expanded to offering developmental and internship opportunities to young people globally.

Next year, the founder of Panograma is set to receive the 2024 Young, Gifted & Black (YGB) Entrepreneurial Award for Caribbean Artistic Development at YGB’s 19th Annual Awards. This will be held during Black History Month in the United States of America.

In a release, Mr. Roach expressed he was truly honoured, adding that the steelpan embodies the shared history of the Caribbean and holds the potential to address pressing societal issues, particularly among the youth.

Past honorees at the YGB Awards include Bunji Garlin, Fay Ann Lyons, and Buju Banton.
