Rising judo star Giovanni Lopez, of the Judo Academy of Trinidad and Tobago, copped Bronze at the recently concluded Granite City Grand Prix held in the Aberdeen Sports Village, Aberdeen Scotland.
The Granite City Grand Prix is a premier tournament hosted by Judo Scotland, the governing body for Judo in Scotland.
This annual event is a highly sought after competition, which is a proving ground for many Judokas in Great Britain.
At the event talented athletes prove themselves, with the hopes of making it on the international circuit.
This year was no different, with every weight category both male and female, seeing high numbers of representation.
Giovanni who was invited to train at Club Esprit in Scotland; the same club at which Trinidad and Tobago’s first female Judo Olympian, Gabriella Wood also trains.
