Trinidad and Tobago’s Senior National Women’s Team fell to a 6-0 defeat to Canada in their Concacaf W Championship opener in Monterrey last evening.
Christine Sinclair opened the scoring in the 27th minute and Canada held a 1-0 lead at the half. T&T offered staunch second-half resistance until Julia Grosso added another in the 67th. The Juventus forward was again on target in the 79th. The Maple Leafs added three more in a late seven minute flurry to take control of Group B.
In the other match, Costa Rica beat Panama 3-0 to put themselves second in the four-team group.
T&T meets Costa Rica in their second match on Friday.
