TTPS: 599 Illegal Firearms Recovered

Violence is often viewed as a solution to disputes.

That’s according to Superintendent Rishi Singh of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations.

While speaking at a Media Briefing hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service on Tuesday, he said opportunity reducing techniques are a key part of the TTPS’ short term crime interruption tactic and this also involves patrols and firearm recovery strategies.

Superintendent Singh said their analysis shows the most common causes of homicides are through gang activity and organised crime, but there are now other motives.

Superintendent Singh also noted that there is now a Venezuelan dynamic in crime, where Venezuelans are victims, deceased due to crime and perpetrators of crime.
