Two Covid-19 Step Down Facilities To Be Re-activated As Positive Cases Increase

A rise in COVID-19 related hospitalisations has prompted the re-activation of two step-down facilities.

Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, made the announcement at Wednesday’s Ministry of Health Media Conference. The Minister noted that his concerns were expressed in a meeting held on Sunday with Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Roshan Parasram, and Principal Medical Officer Dr. Maryam Abdool-Richards.

The Point Fortin Area Hospital and the UTT Valsayn facility were chosen and will introduce a total of 75 beds for step-down patients.

The Minister explained that the team will continue to look at figures to determine any further action.
