Japan has concluded its donation of US$1 million in medical equipment for COVID-19 patients in Trinidad and Tobago.
Public hospitals of Trinidad and Tobago received a total of 245 pieces of medical equipment for COVID-19 patients.
The donation from the Government of Japan and managed by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), consisted of 100 electrical suction pumps, 30 intensive care hospital beds, 28 ICU patient monitors, 25 infusion pumps, 22 ultrasound portable scanning systems, 15 hospital stretchers, 15 infusion pumps, and 10 ventilator systems.
Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Amery Browne, Ambassador of Japan to Trinidad & Tobago, Mr. Dennis Zulu, Government officials from Japan, and Director of the UNOPS Multi-Country Office for Costa Rica, Panama and the English and Dutch Speaking Caribbean Alejandro Rossi were in attendance for the handover ceremony.
