West Indies Vs India T20 Series – India Wins One

The West Indies were unable to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20 Series as India won their first of the series.

Batting first at Providence in Guyana, the West Indies received a solid start from opener Brandon King who scored an even 42. King partnered with Kyle Mayers to post 55 for the first wicket. The in-form Nicholas Pooran only managed 20 before being stumped. But the finishing touches were left in the hands of skipper Rovman Powell as he smashed a rapid 40 not-out from 19 balls to push the Windies to 159 for 5 from their 20 overs. Kuldeep Yadav stood out with ball in hand for India, taking 3 wickets for 28 runs.

India lost an early wicket with the score on just six, but that did not deter Surya-Kumar Yadav who smashed 10 fours and 4 sixes on his way to a match-winning 83. Tilak Varma supported with 49 not out as India finished on 164 for 3 with 13 balls to spare, winning by 7 wickets.

The Series now stands at 2-1, with the 4th and 5th T20s taking place this coming Saturday and Sunday at Lauderhill in Florida.
